The 2023 Hoffmann DV Field Blend is a plush, youthful and generously layered expression co-fermented from young Grenache, Mataro and Mickan Block fruit.
Opening with aromas of plum, dark berries, gentle spice and a savoury edge, it shows seamless integration of flavour from the outset—a hallmark of true field blending.
The palate is full and rounded, delivering ripe dark fruit supported by soft, grainy tannins and a warm, lingering finish.
Crafted with minimal intervention, small-batch open ferments and eighteen months in seasoned French oak, the wine highlights the natural harmony between Sue’s Block and Mickan Block fruit while allowing each component to shine.
Approachable now yet structured enough to evolve through 2033, it is a vibrant early expression of our developing vineyard sites.
This versatile wine pairs beautifully with slow-cooked lamb, BBQ pork, grilled sausages, Mediterranean-style pizza, roasted vegetables and mature cheeses.

REVIEWS
91 Points – Erin Larkin (Robert Parker – Wine Advocate)
The fruit for this 2023 Hoffmann DV Field Blend is a blend of fruit from selected young vines that are picked and processed as a single batch—i.e., co-fermented. It includes Grenache from Sue’s block that was planted 2020, Shiraz from Mickan Block that was planted in 2019 and Mataro from Sue’s block that was planted 2020.
On the nose, there are notes of leather and plum jam, dark chocolate, medjool date, aniseed and hung deli meat. The palate is soft, shaped by plump, profuse, grainy tannins and lingering over the finish.
This is a gutsy wine, with a surprisingly soft countenance. I like the authenticity of this wine—it isn’t polished, but it is poised and detailed. Drink now and up to 2033.
